Art In the New Normal Winners

Art in the New Normal Kids and Teens Challenge

 

Corona Art Association children's art teacher, Lori Alarcon, evaluated the kids and teens entries. Ms. Lori wants all the kids to know that she enjoyed seeing all of your artwork and even if your name doesn't appear here, you are talented and everyone should keep drawing, painting, and creating!

The winners will be invited to the Gallery to pick up their ribbons and hang their work in an art show some time after we re-open. Congratulations everyone!

Art in the New Normal CAA Members/Adults Challenge

​

Chamber of Commerce Chairman of the Board, Don Williamson, volunteered to judge the adult entries. Don has served in numerous civic posts in Corona and Riverside county and writes about Corona history, having founded the non-profit Corona History Association in 2015.

​

1st prize goes to artist Alex Alarcon for Noemi, an American Dream Fulfilled, which appeared in week three. In commenting on this piece Don said, the “image portrays a very busy woman with a lot of responsibility but she has everything under control.” Alex receives $ 85.00 for his win.

 

2nd prize is awarded to artist Wendi Tooth for The Last Ride of the Day, which was entered into week two. Don commented: “A girl almost a teen, facial expression shows she still enjoys kid stuff, but is not happy about us witnessing it”. Wendi receives $ 65.00 for her win.

 

3rd prize goes to artist Lori Alarcon for Deepest Thanks to Those on the Front Lines, from week one. Don said, he “loved the mix that comprised the bouquet and the colors jumping from the background”.  Lori receives $ 40.00 for her win.

Don also awarded four Honorable Mentions to:

Janet Griffith: REPLACE SORROW WITH BEAUTY  (Week 1)  

Comments: The contrast of the darkness giving way to the floral beauty was very nice.

Famy Bialon: DANCING IN THE STREET (Week 4)         Comments: Enjoy the contrast of the couple interested in dancing and musician in his world, focusing on music, in a romantic setting.               

Bill Gorajia:  THE MUSICIAN  (Week 4)                   

Comments: The image captured the serene encounter between a man and his instrument while creating music

Lani Britain:  SOUVENIRS (Week 2)

Comments: A lot of activity to tire a little girl that gets to see the fair in style
