So far, 2023 has been a Very Busy year for your friends at the Corona Art Association!
On February 10th, the Corona Chamber of Commerce came out to hold a ribbon cutting ceremony for our newly redecorated gallery in the Historic Civic Center. We were honored with the presence of numerous local dignitaries, including Riverside County Supervisor Karen Spiegel, Corona City Council Member Tom Richins, and representatives from the offices of U.S. Congressman Ken Calvert, Assemblymember Sabrina Cervantes, and State Senator Richard Roth. We were awarded numerous certificates and proclamations from all of these individuals and the organizations they represent.
We are deeply grateful for the tremendous showing of community support as we celebrate our 60th anniversary all year. We thank the City of Corona for the generous grant to help us make our space more peaceful, inviting, and conducive to the enjoyment and production of visual art in all of its forms. And of course, no words can express the appreciation we have for the volunteers who have donated countless hours and amounts of energy towards making all of this possible. We see you. We appreciate you. We would not exist without you.
Please enjoy this photo album showing some of the photos from the ribbon cutting.
Also on Feb. 10th we opened the 2023 Dominick Frascella Memorial Art Show. The theme was, "Homage to the Masters". We thought this would be an appropriate theme to honor and remember the man who co-founded our little community art organization all those decades ago. Dominick's nephew, John Frascella, still lives in the Inland Empire, and generously let us borrow some memorabilia and art for the show. He also regaled us with funny and heartwarming stories of his uncle, who truly viewed CAA as not just a place for artists to show their work, but a place to learn, grow, and belong as individuals. He envisioned a non-profit community service organization that would work in the surrounding communities to bring art to everyone and everyone to art, and to serve as an extended social network to its members. Today's members of CAA embrace this vision and are committed to enhancing it.
Below is the body of artwork that was submitted to this art show. The art reflects either the style of a master artist, or recreates a master work in the artist's own style.
